School Closure Question & Answers


At this time, the Dodgeville School District is continuing to educate students in non-traditional ways as guided by the State of Wisconsin.  With school closures being indefinite, we will continue to provide this to our students as guided by the State.
Plans may change as the situation evolves, and we thank everyone for their flexibility and understanding as we all navigate this together.

1. Q: I have seen on the news that school is closed indefinitely.  Does that mean students do not have to do anymore work? ​Do you know if administration will be completing the paperwork DPI has sent out to districts waiving required hours?

A:  At this time, teachers will continue to provide learning opportunities for their students.  It is important that learners continue to complete work assigned and connect with their teachers if they have questions about that work.  The Dodgeville School District’s Board of Education will be meeting to discuss plans related to the extended school closure. More guidance and information from the district will follow.

2.  Q: Can I come clean out my locker?

A:  We are not doing complete desk/cubby/locker clean-out at this time. If we do not end up returning to school this year, we will cross that bridge when it comes and work to get remaining belongings to families. If you need essential items (glasses, medications, materials you need to complete assigned work) related to learning, please set up an appointment by calling the school.  See information below for specific contact information.

3.  Q: Will we still have prom/spring sports/graduation and other school related events?

A:  At this time all school related events are postponed.  We are hopeful that we can reschedule our events once the group gathering restrictions are removed.

4.  Q: Will we have to make up the time off this summer?

A:  At this time there has been no directive from the state as to how this extended closure will affect the rest of the school year, including summer. We will keep families posted as these answers are shared with us.  We will be providing summer learning opportunities when allowed.

5.  Q: How will I know what school work needs to be completed?

A:  Teachers have been instructed to stay in contact (online, email, phone) with students and families throughout the closure.  A touch-base of at least once a week is recommended, but many will likely reach out even more frequently. Teachers are continuing to plan lessons and materials for students, and they will let you know their plan for collecting completed work and distributing new work to families. 

6.  Q: What if my child has an issue with their school Chromebook?

7.  Q: What is happening with my DMS and DHS student(s) grades for Term 3 and Term 4?

A:  We will be completing Term 3 classes Friday, March 20th.  Grades will be posted by Tuesday, March 31st. If you have specific concerns please talk to your teacher about an extension or incomplete.  Grades will be posted in IC for families that week. Term 4 classes will begin on Monday, March 30th. Students should be checking their Google Classrooms and emails for information from NEW teachers for Term 4.
